On April 3rd, 2024, the International Relations Club was lucky to be able to attend the anual UNESCO Master Class against Racism and Discriminations in Paris. Many of our members spoke in front of over 3000 external guests, and met with many activists such as Khaby Lame, the world's most popular TikToker with over 161 million followers; H.E. Emmanuel Nkosinathi Mthethwa, South African Ambassador to France and Permanent Delegate of the Republic of South Africa to UNESCO; Professor Evelyne Heyer of the Musée de l'Homme; UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Xueli Abbing (Kingdom of the Netherlands); and the content creators Andressah Catty (Brazil), Lesego Tlhabi (South Africa) and Ivan Bédé (France).

On January 15, 2025, the International Relations Club had the privilege of
attending the event"Afrique du Nord et Moyen-Orient : Perspectives
2025", hosted by the French Institute of International Relations
(Ifri) in Paris. This conference explored the key geopolitical and economic
challenges shaping North Africa and the Middle East in 2025, focusing on
conflict resolution, governance and economic development.
During the event, speakers discussed the aftermath of heightened conflicts
in the region, power dynamics between major actors such as Iran,
Israel and Turkey, and the evolving role of international organizations
in fostering stability. Notable speakers included journalist Pierre Haski
from France Inter, Gérard Mestrallet (special envoy for IMEEC), Quentin
Jeantet (advisor on North Africa and the Middle East to the Minister for
Europe and Foreign Affairs), and researcher Sébastien Abis. The discussion
was moderated by Dorothée Schmid, head of the Ifri Turkey/Middle East program.
Attending this event provided a valuable opportunity for club members to
engage with experts, deepen their understanding of current international
affairs, and reflect on the broader implications of geopolitical shifts in
the region.
